Hyssopdell began with a simple wish: that the table you eat at every day could look as considered as a table set for a celebration.
Why placemats
A placemat is the smallest change that makes the biggest difference at dinner. Lay four down and a weeknight plate of pasta suddenly feels like an occasion. Put them away and the table is bare again in seconds. We wanted mats you would reach for every evening, not only at the holidays.
Our own artwork
Every pattern in our shop is an original design made for Hyssopdell. Some are painterly, like the heirloom tomatoes and pea vines of our Kitchen Garden collection. Some borrow from the long tradition of blue-and-white china. Others follow the calendar, from spring tulips to winter cardinals. None of them are stock prints, and each design is printed on a full set of four so the table reads as one.
The name
Hyssop is an old kitchen-garden herb with small blue flowers that bees adore. A dell is a small, sheltered valley. Put together, Hyssopdell suggests a quiet green corner where good things grow, which is how we like to think of a well-set table.
The blue hour
Our colours come from that short stretch after sunset when the sky turns periwinkle and indigo and the lamps come on indoors. It's when most of us finally sit down together. Those are the tones we chose for our look, with a flash of marigold like candlelight.

Shipping is $7.99 flat, or free on orders of $100 or more. You have 30 days to return a set if it isn't right. And our customer service email is available 24/7, so a question never has to wait for office hours.
